What the various versions of Serial Key Maker?

There are 3 versions of Serial Key Maker. The features of each is outlined below:

PROFESSIONAL Version

Price: $299, 30 days free support
Upgrade Price: Upgrade from STANDARD is $149, and from LITE is $199
Support Fees: $99 per year.

  1. CAN create unlimited duration keys.
  2. Limited keys generated in the PROFESSIONAL version can be valid for a maximum of 360 days.
  3. CAN create 1000 keys per bulk generate (unlimited bulk generates).
  4. CAN use the new “Limit Feratures” functionality.

  6. CAN use the Encrypt Text utility.
  7. CAN use the new License W R A P P E R functionality
  8. CAN Programatically generate keys.

STANDARD Version

Price: $199, 30 days free support
Upgrade Price: Upgrade from LITE is $99
Support Fees: $59 per year.

  1. CAN create unlimited duration keys.
  2. Limited keys generated in the STANDARD version can be valid for a maximum of 360 days.
  3. CAN create 500 keys per bulk generate (unlimited bulk generates).
  4. Can NOT use the new “Limit Feratures” functionality..

LITE Version

Why should I buy Serial Key Maker when I could just roll my own?

No doubt you could create your own Serial Key System for your application. However, even the most rudimentary system is going to take 20 to 40 hours to get right.

Your time is probably worth anywhere from $70 to $150 per hour. The cost benefit alone is a very compelling reason to purchase Serial Key Maker. Your time is better invested on your core application.


Why is it so inexpensive? Does that mean it is less reliable or secure than the more expensive options?

I started development on Serial Key Maker with the goal of making it affordable to early stage mISV’s. There are a few other products out there that cost much more, and are very complicated to implement.

I needed a simple solution that gave me the opportunity to distribute demo and full versions of my software, while at the same time keeping honest people honest.

If I get it right, I will make money on volume, rather than exorbitant pricing. We all need a cost effective, clean solution.

It is not less secure than the more expensive options – you cannot stop all hackers and your software will probably be hacked and cracked eventually.

My opinion (shared by many others) is that ISV’s should aim to be to make it hard as is reasonably possible to steal your software without inconveniencing your users, and provide attractive servicing and support options than encourage the people you want to purchase your software to put down the money for it.
